Super cool vintage Clevinger keyhole EUB. It has an upright style neck with an ebony fingerboard.
I had a guy who works on Steinberger necks replace the original pickup with one from an NS EUB for a higher output. It is attached to the neck and has individually adjustable pickups for each string. It definitely bumped up the sound a bunch.
I've owned the bass for about 25 years, but only have really played it for the last three in a salsa band. Whoever had it before me really played it a ton, and clearly didn't know how to go into thumb position as evidenced by the way they wore out the finish on the "bout." I think you could call it heavy relic done the old fashioned way!
The neck was repaired at some point, but I've never seen any change in the neck over the time I've owned it. The fingerboard is in good shape, and there are no issues that affect playability.
Because of the condition and the swapped out pickup, I'm only asking $500, which I think is a fair deal. I finally put out the cash for an Ampeg baby bass, and I no longer have a use for it.
Comes with a padded case with a place to store the right "bout." Plays just like an upright.
