This incredible bass by Canadian builder Geoff St. Germaine incapsulates the best designs and methods developed by the top builders and players. There are nods to Alembic (the incredible laminations), Ken Smith and Fodera (heel, single cutaway, scalloped nut), Mattis (33" scale and fluid, ergonomic shape to the cut, 26 frets, 16mm spacing), Music man (the truss wheel that makes neck adjustments take seconds), Lee Sklar (mandolin frets for fast playing and great intonation).
Finished with dutch oil and wax.
I believe the woods used are: White Oak core, Purple Heart for stringers, Ebony top, Mahogany wings, with ebony and maple sandwich/ stringers.
Magnetic battery cover
18v Trickfish preamp with pull passive volume, passive tone, 3 band EQ, volume, balance
Aguilar DCB pickups
Ebony Fingerboard
Ergonomic C neck profile- very comfortable and fast
16mm spacing
26 frets
11 lbs.
Ebony ramp between pickups (removable)
Inlays are stainless steel with black center
Brass scalloped nut
Hipshot ultralite tuners and bridge
Strung with stainless rounds 30-125
Stage 5 Custom Series case
I just had a fresh full maintenance performed, including setup and intonation from my local luthier.
Great action, easy to play and very tweak-able to taste.
I am the second owner.
The bass is a chameleon and is capable of covering anything from massive dub lows, to tight, punchy slap tones to burpy Jaco mid range. Defined and articulate, and very even up and down the neck. The spacing and scale facilitates much further reach and speed. For soloing, it absolutely sings.
I am in need of a fretless for an upcoming project, so have decided to put this up for consideration.
Trades: Fretless +/- cash as appropriate
Buyer pays actual shipping, I pay for proper packing materials and box.

I don't know what it is about this bass but this has got to be one of the most handsome instruments I've ever seen. And handsome might be a weird descriptor but it feels the most suitable.

Do you have criteria for fretless? 6-string, string spacing, scale length? I have a fretless or 3 that I would consider trading.

I'm pretty open, but I do prefer neck through, and a thinner neck profile front to back. I love a non existent heel. All the stuff the St. G has is really awesome, scale doesn't matter to me so much, or spacing, and neither does weight anymore as I sit now at gigs. Would consider anything up to a 6 string. Love F bass, Marleaux Diva looks pretty awesome, I most recently had a wicked Pedulla 5 string that was amazing, things like that. Feel free to send me a DM with any offers.

If that was fretless… what a beauty!
If it was, it wouldn't be up for consideration- long for sale post, but looking to sell or trade towards a fretless. Also, had to change the ad because I couldn't help myself and gigged the bass this past Friday. This thing can sit inside, or just as easily cut through, a dense band mix with ease. The Trickfish preamp with the Aggies is really something else- apparently a $500.00 upgrade in the build, according to the original owner.
