Trying this again.

Purchased from Talkbass. 1965 Jazz bass. Refinished in Sherwood green. Bass needs nothing. I had the neck refinished and refret. It looks like there was an old repair done to the neck that I had addressed. Plays better than ever now.

Mix of vintage and reproduction parts. Tuners, neck, body, pickups & hardware are all vintage. I think everything else is a modern reproduction. I would assume nothing on this bass is “original” it has been refinished everywhere.

This is a great vintage players grade jazz bass. People that are local are welcome to come try it out.

Interested in guitars + cash. Other players grade guitars, Gibson, jazzmasters, mustangs, etc.

Everything affects value... You date vintage instrument by finding the latest date on availble parts. Of course everyone wants to write its 65 not a 66 because nof value.

Look - iT's the same like you could date it to the early 1900s because the wood that was used on the bass was chopped around that time. Still, it's not a 1900 bass, it's a 1966, where it was assembled and completed. That's the No.1 rule for dating vintage. The last date found.

I didn’t write that anything was original to the bass. Figured the person buying this wouldn’t care. It has been refinished everywhere. Who knows what else was changed. It’s not a collectors item.

When was the refinish done and is that relic'ing or natural wear? In your opinion, is the refinish a professional job?

Man I am so intrigued by this. Wish I closer so I could demo it. How has no one noticed that it appears to have the individual string-mute mounting holes below the bridge pickup, possibly making the body a 61 or 62???
Seller, any ideas on that?

No, I don’t know. The bass was sold to me as a 65. It is great.

it's not "a 66" or "a 65," technically this is a parts bass of 65-66 fender components.... I think thats fair to say, no?

those pickups, that neck, that body "could" have all ended up together from the factory technically, so the fact that they did not should not really matter too much? to a player, at least.

what are the pots? also vintage? what about the wire? what are the dates on the pots?

yeah I agree. Never mattered to me. It’s been so long since I’ve looked at this bass I can’t remember what is going on with the pots and wiring. I’ve had it up here for a couple years.

Im about to retire and cash in a roth IRA. But that’s a few months away. This timing stinks for me!!!!
I think it’s beautiful and as far as Im concerned its just as much 1965 as I am (born September 65’)

I think it’s interesting that the back looks so good(no ‘buckle rash’) but the front looks so worn. I think it looks reliced but I am no expert lol. Maybe formerly owned by a slap bassist with long fingernails 😜
