Lakland USA Custom 44-94 Mahogany Near-Mint

This is a very special Lakland “employee bass” built by master luthier Dan Strack as a special project around 2003. I bought the bass directly from Dan. It has a beautiful 2-piece, oil-finished mahogany body. The neck is tight-grained quartersawn maple with a satin finish, 1-5/8” nut and birdseye maple fretboard. The J-MM pickups and 9V preamp are Bartolini. Controls are: Master volume (active/passive push/pull), blend, 3 band boost/cut EQ (with push/pull mid frequency switching) and 3-way mini-toggle for bridge pickup coil selection. Dan used Fender J-bass knobs for the controls and I think they look great. It has the standard Lakland bridge and Hipshot tuners. The body is not drilled for a pickguard, but it comes with two: one in black plastic, the other a beautiful walnut veneer piece that further shows off Dan’s woodworking prowess. The bass is in near-mint condition, with no dents, dings or visible scratches. In fact, I cannot see any flaws including player wear on the body. It weighs 9 lbs, 2 oz and sounds phenomenal. It ships in the original Lakland-logo cream-colored tolex case, which is also in near-mint condition. Sorry, no trades. CONUS only; will split shipping.
