This is a fretless Acoustibass that I bought new around 1990 from Rudy’s in New York City. These basses were designed with a piezo pickup, a custom preamp, and feature a hollow chambered body with some resonating metal tines inside. They were supposed to sound like an upright bass. I don’t think it totally sounds like an upright, but it does have a rich and woody sound all its own. The original hard shell case is included. I’m sad to part with it, but we have downsized and it’s not getting played, so time to move it on. Currently strung with D’Addario Chromes. I would prefer not to ship this instrument, but I am willing to take it to the UPS store and have them package and ship it if you pay for that. The bass is located in Portland, OR.

I finally acquired a Fretless Godin LR Baggs Acoustibass last summer(I had owned a fretted one previously) . There’s nothing that sounds like this bass. The sympathetic metal tines and the fully chambered body give the instrument incredible sustain and resonance without feeding back. A great deal on a very unique bass.

Wish you were in Denver!!! My Godin A4 Ultra fretless is probably my favorite bass these days, and the Acoustibass is like its grandfather. I've always been intrigued by the resonating tines aspect, super cool idea. My A4 is quite heavy considering the chambered body (10-ish lbs I think), I've always seen these Acoustibasses listed as being relatively lightweight

My Acoustibass, which I just placed on consignment in a local store in Portland, is under 8 lbs.
