2014 EBMM Classic Sterling 4H – Classic Red – USA Made

Background: About 22 years ago, I bought a 2001 Sterling with a maple neck while my 65 jazz bass was being re-fretted. I eventually sold the Sterling, but always remember how great the neck was. So, recently I had to scratch the itch to pick up another Sterling and came across this Classic Sterling, coincidentally discovering how unique/rare they are. I’m on the fence about selling it, but I’m a jazz bass guy thru and thru and just bought another one. So, I need to thin the herd and fund the new jazz bass. If this doesn’t sell, I won’t be disappointed as I’ll have this great Sterling when that itch reoccurs.

So…Here is an exceptional USA-made 2014 Ernie Ball Music Man Classic Sterling 4H in Classic Red, weighing just 8.7 lbs. Manufactured August 12, 2014 in San Luis Obispo, California (Serial Number B057660). This late-production Classic Sterling features a figured gloss birdseye maple neck and fretboard, ash body, original hardshell case, and all of the vintage-inspired specifications that made the Classic series unique among modern Music Man basses.

The Classic Sterling was produced for only a few years (2010-2015) and differs significantly from the standard Sterling. Features include the vintage-inspired 2-band active EQ, series-wired ceramic humbucker, string-through-body bridge with a most unique factory mute system where the level of mute can be dialed in for each string! It has a gloss-finished birdseye maple neck, vintage-style frets, and 7.5” fingerboard radius.

This example is attractive due to its gloss finish, figured birdseye maple neck. The birdseye figuring is visible throughout the neck and headstock and is a wonderful example of a Classic Sterling.

Condition:
Excellent overall condition. Electronics function perfectly. Neck is straight, truss rod operates properly, and the bass plays cleanly up and down the neck. Hardware shows very slight patina in places, but overall, the bass looks and feels like new. Please review all photos for exact condition.
