3/4 size fully carved German double bass from the early 1900’s. This bass is a very comfortably sized instrument for classical use and would be an excellent jazz/folk bass. Strong, quick, punchy tone. I’ve done everything with this bass from jazz to classical, even baroque historically informed performance and it has been an excellent companion. Wide to medium grain spruce top, flamed maple sides and carved back. Original neck and scroll. Scroll features original wooden ‘hat peg’ tuners with lightly decorated brass plates and tuners. In excellent condition minus one ancient battle scar on the top which has been fully repaired. Very structurally stable, even while gigging through harsh New England weather. Comes with an adjustable bridge. Currently strung with a full set of Spirocore Weichs, Belcanto set is also available during any trials or with the bass. The label reads “Made in Germany”.
