NO TRADES PLEASE
If you are familiar and like Modulus basses, one of the founders left them a few years back and decided to make a "new and improved" Modulus series of basses here in the U.S. His name is Geoff Gould and he founded G. Gould guitars, as he did with Modulus. They too are made in the USA, use carbon fiber necks, the best body woods, electronics and hardware. They are handmade in his custom shop (like the early Modulus basses were).
Geoff arguably made improvements in the balance, upper fret access and most importantly, the neck shape and feel. The neck is slightly thinner front to back and also flatter on the back profile. This makes the necks faster and easier to play. He also made the neck finish satin (as opposed to gloss like on a Modulus), which makes it feel like a wood neck. Lastly, the radius is slightly flatter, making it faster as well. Lastly, the finish doesn't break-down and flake off as with the many Modulus basses I've owned.
Additionally, I upgraded the EMG 2-band preamp to an EMG 3-band preamp with a mid-frequency sweep.
These sell for several thousands new and typically sell for $2,500 - $4,500 on the used market. I just ran a search of G. Gould basses that actually sold on Reverb with the sold price. Screenshots of that search attached.
As you can see, she's been loved (gigged) a lot. Both by me and the previous owner. There is a reason for all of that gigging. It feels, plays and sounds AMAZING. Stupid low action, a tonal chameleon and tone that is balanced and stellar!
Frets have lots of life left. Truss works great, however, with it being a carbon fiber neck, you really don't have to adjust it as these don't move season to season or with humidity or temperature changes. It's mainly there for you to personalize the amount of relief in the neck that you prefer playing with. It's currently set to nearly flat (again, with very low action).
She's approximately 8.5 lbs. Update, as noted, I upgraded the 2-band EMG preamp to a 3-band EMG preamp (w mid-sweep). I forgot to mention that I also upgraded the pickups from the EMG 35DC-X series, to the EMG 35DC pickups. The X Series are more "open" and "broad". The non-X are a bit more mid-focused which cut thru better in the mix and have the more "traditional EMG tone" which I prefer. It's a bit more forward now in the mix. The X Series are more laid-back. I prefer to punch-thru!
