*I will be on vacation from 8/29- 9/5 but will continue to check the status.For sale is my beloved 1983 Steinberger L2 Bass. I bought this a few years back and it has served me well. I have never gigged this bass but not sure of course of its previous owner history. Its in very good condition for its age. The neck is wonderful and straight, frets are good and comes equipped with the original EMG "SS" pickups. It also has the original gigbag and dremmel screws as shown, although I have always used double ball strings. Excellent, iconic instrument with typical and normal, minimal small scratches and recently set up.
For the "imperfections"--The bridge pickup has a slight indentation(as shown) which I assume was heavily thumb used but the pickup works perfectly and a very small amount of the internal is seen up close. Also, the bridge has tarnished and this was the way I received it. I am sure many of you can either powder coat or stain it to black if you wish. And lastly, when tuning the strings, two of the tuners have the pin sticking out as shown in the pictures after tuning up. I am not technical or handy and it never bothered me as long as I can tune properly, but probably an easy fix for some.
The birth date of serial #838 puts this beast at June of 1983 according to the Steinberger serial database. I am reluctantly selling this bass but college x2 is expensive and I havent had any time to play. Someone will really enjoy this bass as many of you know is a true state of the art design and experience. As far as tone, feel, balance and playability, its astonishing. It is currently strung with LaBella Double Ball Rounds and will also throw in a set of Labella Double Ball Flatwounds($65). The bass will be tuned down and shipped insured with signature unless otherwise specified. Sold as-is so please PM with any questions.
