Listing this now as I know these are slow movers. Very hard for me to list, and I make decided not to sell.
I will not negotiate price, this is less then I paid for the bass.
This is in my opinion a perfectly spec’d Smith Crotch walnut, flame maple laminate with the series/parallel switches, I have never been so much of a smith guy, but this is the spec I told myself I’d want if I ever got one I bought it impulsively as a bass I could pass down to my kids if I am ever blessed with any. But honestly, im not sure it’s worth having a bass I only feel comfortable playing at home and at church. I still mainly gig my Spector (which I honestly like more than this one because I’ve always been a Spector guy).
When I set it up and put new string on it after buying it. I understood what the fuss was about, the neck on this is about as no nonsense as it gets, just a flat buy round neck, but somehow it just feels perfect? The depths of the sound of this thing through the PA at church is something else, and the high register just sings. I’m not a super choppy player and I don’t play in any fusion or jazz bands or anything, I’d never gig this for a rock band or the $50-200 dollar Latin gigs I do. I enjoy playing it at church and love noodling with it at home.
I believe the bass was originally sold new from Chuck Levins in Wheaton MD, so it felt good getting a smith that was in my state all its life.
I’d love to keep caring for this bass for many more years as I will likely never be able to acquire another like it in the future. But I don’t know if I should move it on.
