Here I have a stunning example of a 2026 Fender American Vintage II 1966 Jazz Bass in Lake Placid Blue, with a matching headstock.
Weighing in at 8.5 pounds, this is a very resonant jazz bass that has one of the best sounds out of a modern Fender that I’ve heard in a long time.
The bass balances well, no body or neck dive. I’ve tried this with thin and thick straps, it’s a very nicely balanced instrument.
The neck is not the chunky “U” shape that is often associated with bound jazz basses from this era. Compared to my 65 Jazz which has the most skinny pencil neck ever, this neck is just a tiny bit thicker, but still very much so a 60’s jazz bass profile. Truss rod turns well in both directions, and does not fight me.
The neck pickup tone on this instrument is to die for. The bridge is great too, but the neck pickup is exceptional. Very even tone too, which is rare for a 60’s style jazz because the D and A string volume on a lot of jazz basses are noticeably quieter.
Very nice sustain on this bass
I have this priced a little bit higher than a lot of listings for this model because having seen the weight of new American fenders, this 8.5 Pound beauty is uncommon to find.
The bass is professionally set up, the only adjustment you will need to do upon delivery is adjust the truss rod as the neck can shift in shipping, just like any other bass. Those talkbassers who have met me and played my instruments know that I take pride in my setups.
