1983 Fullerton Precision Bass ‘57 Reissue
Made in the Fullerton plant before the move to Corona, this bass has one of the best necks I've ever played, made by none other than Herb Gastelum "the neck whisperer". A 57 year veteran of fender who 2 years after this bass became the founding neck guru for the custom shop. His telecasters are legendary and very sought after. This neck is no different.
This neck has what seems like an odd profile at first, slim but a little wide with a sharp radius from the neck to the fingerboard. Once you play it though…whoah! It just plays super fast, super easy, and just feels like home. I think it is as fast as my jazz bass!
To top it off, it was well cared for its entire life, and other than some play wear and scratches, is in excellent condition. The neck is straight as an arrow. No bows, no twists, and you can absolutely slam the strings for low action. Easily the best neck I’ve ever played.
It has the slim neck these were known for. Just a great, great player.
Not all parts are original, obviously. It has the typical ‘80s mod: strap lock pins and a PJ conversion with Seymour Duncan bass lines, professionally done. No pickup/bridge covers. Couple bumps and one scratch seen in pics.
