I bought a new Tobias growler reissue a few months back. I love the bass, the neck,the weight and the playability.
However, I’ve never been a Bartolini guy. So last week I replaced the whole harness which includes the MM quad coil pickup, the controls and harness, and two preamps one for each split coil pickup in the case.
(I put an EMG active pickup with a three band eq)
The price on the complete harness with both preamps, a volume, a stacked bass/ treble pot and a three way switch for EACH coil of the pickup is $495 from Bartolini. The pickup itself is another $255.
I’m very happy with the growler with the EMG , and have no intention of selling it. So I’ve decided to offer the complete setup (minus the jack which I re used) for sale if I can get enough to make it worth not keeping it around for if I ever would sell the bass.
All wiring is complete and uncut except for the lead from preamp to pickup, which be cut to remove from the body, and the leads to the jack which were unsoldered in order for me to reuse the original jack.
This would be a great opportunity in particular for a four string Musicman player who want a Bartolini set-up.
