For sale '79 Fender Jazz Black

Great player Fender Jazz in black, I'm approximating to 1979. Sounds and plays great. Emphasis on the sounds great. Sounds really, really good. Plays great.

Here's what I know:

• 1 owner before me - unfortunately the original owner is no longer with us so I couldn't ask for more historical detail; my 75/78 parts jazz is staying in the herd instead of this one. The parts bass has 74 PV pickups, and this one's original pups are measurably better sounding.
• Nut has been replaced with a brass nut.
• Bridge looks like it is a vintage Badass II - I'm assuming it was installed when they were the rage of the times in the 80s.
• Frets have wear - see photos, let me know if you have questions or want more detail. I am on the fence about a refret vs a level and crown; there is a little buzz on the 2-5 frets.
• Perfectly straight neck, perfect intonation.
• Tuners look all original.
• No bridge or pup covers, no thumbrest
• Pickups, pots, grounding plates all look original.
• Strap buttons are original.
• Knobs are not original, and look stupid in my opinion. I think this would have come from the factory with the strat style knobs if I have the 79 year right. I'm likely going to order some because I'm tired of looking at these stupid chrome knurled knobs.
• Neck pocket does have a little bit of the common gap on the bass side. If you jar the neck really hard, you can get it to budge, but it is super tight unless you are really trying to jar it to change the angle.

Here's what I'm unsure about and open to hearing from experts:

• I don't know if the neck pickup insulated vinyl is right. I've never found anything that helps with the grey jacket, or the color of the conductors. Solder joints look really good, so I'm 50-50 on anything being unoriginal in there. Pot codes show '78
• I don't know if the control plate is original. Only reason I'm uncertain is because it doesn't quite fit tightly against the original pickguard. Wouldn't surprise me if it came from the factory like this. It does look normally aged for this vintage of a bass.
• I'm 90% certain the black paint is original. The cavities and neck pocket don't have any indication visually that there is any other finish under, or oversprayed, or residual. The checking looks absolutely natural and cheesy damn sexy. There are a couple of finish wear spots that just look like there's the walnut finish underneath. I don't know if that's the seal coat, or factory oversprayed over walnut/mocha - I just can't say for certain. But given the cavities and aging of the black - I really think it is factory black.
• Hard case is the plastic molded USA rectangular case - all the latches work. I lean towards this being original with the bass, but I honestly don't know. Case in very good, but not excellent condition.

I subscribe to the theory that there are duds across all eras of Fender basses - the ones that are played and loved as much as this one; they are no dud.
