PRICE LOWERED TO $850 FIRM for JULY 4th WEEKEND!!!

I know, I know .... I've been back and forth with this bass like a yo-yo, but this time it's for real (seriously :) )

This is FBB #030, a 35" scale fretted 5 string with 17.5-18mm spacing (feels just slightly less than 18mm), Aero pick-ups, passive. A full description of the bass can be found here

I just don't use a 5 for anything, I really only play 6's & 7's. Plus, this axe has a smaller body which isn't comfortable for my massive girth.

A trade for another 6 string fretted FBB would be perfect, but highly unlikely that anyone that has such a thing would be willing to trade. I will consider other 6 or 7 string trades, but they must be at least 18mm spacing, anything less is a problem for me.

The price has been lowered to $850 firm for the July 4th weekend, then it's off to the 'bay .... The quality of the workmanship here is amazing, and this is a monster for recording. It really just needs another string and a larger body .... :hmm:

Seriously, it's for real this time and if it doesn't go here then I'll have to put it on the nasty 'bay. I'll also consider a slightly lower end 6 plus some cash, but not too low end.

This is smoking bass built for playing ........ :cool:

Ya know, James, it's an unbelieveable bass, plays and records as well as anything I've ever owned, but I'm just not a 5 guy, especially with a body this size :rolleyes:

As another man of "healthy proportions" you know what I mean, this newer trend towards smaller bodies might be fine for most players but not too cool for us big guys .... :help: . That's one of the really nice things with your Benavente's, a great body size ..... :cool:

i love FBB basses. the Boston guitar center has had a sweet fretless 6er for awhile. they want 2k for it though:eek:

For $2000 you would be well on your way to a full custom with FBB .... :eek:

Of course, for less than $1K you could end up with this extra cool 5 ;) :hyper: :cool:

Couple of nice contacts over the weekend, but nothing firm. Thanks for the interest, though ...

As for a few common questions that I didn't address in the initial post:

The bass has Schaller strap locks installed, and yes, they stay with the bass. No, I don't have the original strap buttons. I'll also include a Levi strap with the bass (it came to me with the strap and Schallers already installed).

I definitely not interested in any 4's, and really not a 5 either, unless it's exceptional. So it's either a trade for a 6 or an outright sell .... maybe a trade for a slightly lower end 6 (Brice Z or Yamaha TRB type) + some cash, but the 6 must be at least 18mm spacing.

It goes to the 'bay after the 4th if there is no interest here .... :cool:

The pups are hum-cancelling when both are active ... you can solo one pup but need to crack the other just a bit to kick in the hum-cancelling.

I had considered putting a pre into the bass when I first got it, but ended up loving the passive tone. Based on some info from Matt @ FBB at that time, I don't think there would be any issues with a Bart pre, but I'm not 100% sure about that .... :cool:

I still am, got a custom 7 being built and my fretless 6 is my main #1 player. This bass is incredible, but .... 5 strings just doesn't work for me anymore (the ONLY 5 that interests me at all is a Valenti) and this body is on the small side. At first I was going to keep it for recording only, but even in a recording situation I need at least a 6. It's a shame, 'cause this axe is a serious players bass .... :cool:

It needs another string and I need to drop about 100 pounds .... :eyebrow: ;)

May not do you much good since the recording quality was less than ideal (outdoors at a music festival, recorded off the FOH board on a crappy mini-disk), but click here. Bass tone cleans up a bit at about the 1/2 way point.

Unfortunately, I have very limited access to the stuff recorded with this bass ......... I mostly use a fretless 6 ... :cool:

Final bump before the long 4th weekend, and then if there is still nothing firm, it's off to other sites.

I'd hate to see this incredible bass get sold to an non-TB member (at least you guys appreciate craftsmanship), but it's got to go. I'm over my self-imposed bass limit :rolleyes:

If anyone is interested, make me a reasonable offer ... :cool:
