This bass is a workhorse, and has served me well for years. The condition is as shown in the pics below. there is substantial play wear, the edged where you place your arm are worn through to wood, and there's pretty substantial belt rash and checking all over. headstock discoloration, and the finish on the neck had previously been peeling off in chunks. It's been sanded off, and refinished in gunstock oil (Like the later stingrays) - honestly its now the most comfortable sabre / stingray neck I've ever played.
with all the issues above, I have to say, it looks pretty funkin cool, if you ask me. with all the cosmetic "relics" out there, its nice to see a real bass with honest play wear. The one for sale is the sunburst / rosewood one. the other root beer one is sold.
the eq is the standard stingray 2 band, with no center detents. The pickups are a standard musicman style pickup with 2 rows of 4 big magnets. THe neck pickup is 2 rows of 8 magnets, like 2 fender jazz pickups in one pickup. The pickup selector is a 5 position switch like the newer stingray HH's, but the cool thing is that these older sabres had a single neck coil selection, which gives a nice throaty jazz bass sound. I love this bass, but I can't justify keeping a bass i never play with the bills mounting on up.

UPDATE - 10/11
Took some pics, (Ok lots of pics) and weighed her. Shes 8.5 lbs on the bathroom scale.
Here are some pics to illustrate the condition. I used a harsh light to try and bring out the flaws, but forgive the resolution , as its from my cell phone. also note, i removed the straplock buttons to illustrate the details. the bass will ship with standard buttons intact.
also, if you scroll down, you'll see a cool freebie. I'm throwing in a fretless sabre neck as well...
This is a sabre neck I bought attached to a no name body. there are extra mounting holes, but those can easily be filled. actually, you're better off filling all the holes and redrilling, as this isnt the original bass. or you can do what I did and just screw it on. the neck is a beautiful birdseye figure, and has only minor pressure marks where you can see that roundwound strings were used. the neck is free with the purchase of the bass.
Price for the sabre, the clear pickguaard, the non-original black pickguard, and the neck, $1000 + shipping.
thanks!
