I *really* hate doing this, but gas has got the better of me again, and I need the jack to finance another axe.

1981 G&L L1000. While the serial number on the bridge indicates this is second year of production, the pickup is the earlier large hex pole type, which indicates 1980. I've not pulled it apart to check neck and body stamps, and don't really want to at this price, but I will if you absolutely insist.

I believe it's mahogany, trans red finish, tight pattern to the grain, some pretty kewl figuring in the headstock maple.

1 5/8's nut, 10.5lbs on my not very accurate digital fish scale.

Not a closet queen, but well played and well loved. Really spiffy player rash and weather checking. I don't dig collector basses that you can't play, this one's got 26+ years of mojo, so no worries...there are already nicks and bumps in the body. There is crazing in the finish.
Controls are vol/treb roll off/bass roll off and the coil tap for single coil/dual coil/dual coil + bass boost or "Oh My God" mode in G&L speak.

Came to me with no case or bag, I can ship in an older Carvin bag, or you can ship me your extra case, or pay for return shipping on one of mine...whatever you're comfortable with.
Early G&L's like this typically go for more, but I'm in a moment of need;)
$600, shipping on your dime from 65201...

thanks, alan

No sir Dig'em...that's the one reason I'm willing to part with this one: I have yours still!

It's a fine piece at what feels like a fine price to me. A similarly serial'd one closed yesterday or the day before for nearly $200 more...

Were it at least a pound lighter, I'd be on it (especially for that 1 5/8 nut!). BTW, you didn't mention the fingerboard but it looks like it might be ebony in the pics?...

I think all f/b's were ebony back then...with a wide strap, I don't notice the weight, and dense wood has a dense tone that goes well with L1000's, at least fer me...
