Hello, I am in NYC and have a very rare Hofner Electric Upright Bass (EUB) for sale!!! There were only a few of these ever made!! This one has some dings and wear that can only be expected for an instrument of this age (it's from the late 70's/80's) but is generally in very good condition.It has a "real" upright Bass Headstock,Neck,Bridge & Tailpiece on a solid body. The tailpiece bears the "Hofner" name.
It has a built in piezo type pickup with a jack socket and (2) control knobs, (1) for Volume and (1) for tone,,I guess, I say that because this has never worked, maybe just a loose cable but it's never bothered me as I've always used the tone settings on a pre-amp anyway! About a year ago I had it in David Gage's Bass shop here in NYC and they did some work on it which included fitting a David Gage Realist Pickup,(you may notice the jack socket by the tailpiece.This is in addition to the original pickup so you can use either/or both together. This allows for a big variety of sound. I have owned this Bass for approx. 5 years and in that time it has never left my home project studio. It comes with a gig bag and a bow,spike and the trombone stand in the picture that I adapted for it and works great. There is also a metal extension that fits to your waist to make it "feel" like a larger body (this is not shown in the pictures).
The ONLY reason for selling it is that I want to buy an NS Designs CR4M because I am really an electric player and the NS Designs suits my style more.This Bass has the feel of a real Upright and the portability of an EUB. This Hofner is a Vintage Instrument and Collectors item and I am sure will only increase over the years. Unfortunately I do not have the space for it any longer! I am also selling a Kydd 4 string EUB (see my other ad) My asking price is $2,500 or best offer!! I would like to see it go to a good home and be used not just looked at !!
