Hey guys,
I'm putting this up for sale as one of the first round of instruments I need to get rid of. I love this bass, and it's probably the instrument I own that is in the absolute best condition, but alas I'm slowly peeling away from 35" scale basses and back to 34". I was a diehard 35" scale guy forever, but have come to find I really like having a consistent scale among my instruments, so I sold a my Roscoe a few months back and this is the next to go.
As you can see, it's been modified a fair bit. It now has all black hardware- an ABM bridge, black knobs, Dunlop strap locks (installed; strap pins included in bag) and black Sperzel tuners. For the Sperzels, there are 3 bass sized and 3 guitar sized, which makes dealing with the thinner strings easier and further reduces weight.
With the combination of the very very lightweight sperzels (lighter than Hipshot ultralites!) and the ABM, the neck dive is completely gone and the bass is much better balanced. It also sounds much, much better with the ABM!!!
The other thing you might notice is that it is strung FULL piccolo, as in EADGBE- in the same octave as a guitar. It sounds like the clearest guitar you've EVER heard. It sounds a bit odd to hear a 35" guitar being played, but it sounds better than any guitar I've ever laid my hands on! The strings are .047 to .006.
If it were 34" scale, I'd never get rid of it.
For the faint of heart, I also have the original nut, so it can be converted back to regular B-C bass tuning (over an octave down from currently!) with ease. That will, of course, be included. The DGC strings all fit in the guitar tuners, obviously, as they are no thicker than guitar strings.
The bass looks (and basically is) absolutely brand new- again, I don't think I own a bass that looks as fresh as this. It sat NOS in a box in a warehouse for a while, and I'm the only owner.
EDIT: I have a very tight fitting hard shell case for it now.
Price is at $1000 + shipping. I'm happy to discuss!
Feel free to PM or email me at [email protected]. Thanks!!
