I'm the original owner of this amp. I bought it from Jack's Music in Red Bank, NJ during a road trip. I'm not even sure how old it is or what year I bought it. I'm pretty sure that somewhere I've even got the original owner's manual and shipping box. I know I had them before my last move. It's been racked some of the time and carried some of the time. It's got a few spots where the black finish has come off (most notably on the one back corner) but it's been almost totally reliable for its entire life.

I say "almost" because I had to send it back to SWR once after it quit working on me in the middle of a gig - but that was in the first 90 days. SWR fixed it under the warranty and it never gave me another minute's worth of trouble. It has that tone and I really love the way it sounds. Even after I needed more power I kept it in the rack and used it to push my power amps because it's so warm and full.

I took some pics tonight and put them up on Yahoo in case you want to have a look. I'll try and get some taken outside in better light, but these should give you a pretty accurate idea of what the amp looks like.

I'm thinking $395 is a fair price, with shipping costs to be borne by the purchaser. As of this moment I'm going to say no trades, no international, and lower 48 only, but I may change my position on one or two of those depending on how things go.

Thanks for checking out the ad. There's going to be a lot more of this stuff in the weeks to come. I don't have any formal feedback on TB, but I've done business with some folks here, on evilBay, and over at bassgear, so I do have some references I can provide.

Regards,
Bill

Thanks for the bump, Toby! How are those huevos rancheros going down? :D

scarekrow - This is from the SWR manual for the amp:

"The power amplifiers in the SM-400 can be used individually to provide full bi-amp capabilities when used with the built-in adjustable electronic crossover or can function as stereo, 200 watt power units. If you need more power, the amps can be bridged for 400 watts @ 8 ohms or 420 watts @ 4 ohms."

"When used in the stereo mode, the internal power amplifiers of the SM-400 will deliver 300 watts @ 2 ohms, 240 watts @ 4 ohms, and 140 watts @ 8 ohms. Optimum performance will be achieved by using a total of 4 ohms per channel. When using 2 ohm loads, the amplifier will run hotter than normal."

You can't put a load of less than 4 ohms on this amplifier in bridged mono mode, or less than 2 ohms in the stereo mode.

I think it's time to try sweetening the deal a little. How about if I put the amp in a 4-space rack at no additional cost?

The rack is a molded plastic type (like SKB or Gator, but I don't know who actually made it), has only been lightly used, and is in excellent physical and cosmetic condition. I'll do pictures tomorrow.
