When I acquired this, it was rough and nearly unplayable. I've seen two-by-fours with better surface. After a lot of sanding, staining, and finishing, this is the outcome. I'm pleased with the results.

I used walnut oil on the fretboard, and stain, tung oil, and then orange oil on the body. It is not a smooth surface, there are "character marks" in many places, but to me that adds to the charm.

The pickup is Kent Armstrong, the tuners are Grover. It's 34 inch scale, and uses extra long string thru-body. The bass has new $60 La Bella tapewound flats on it. The metal plate should be replaced for cosmetic reasons - you could get a piece of pickguard material and cut it out. The small nails on the side (I guess that's what they are) which serve as position markers are not necessarily accurately positioned.

I'm not sure how to price it; I'll let the market decide. Let's start with $489 shipped.

Here is a picture of one of the brads which serve as position markers. They are small, as you can see. The picture quality is poor; it's a crop from a larger shot. I'll take some better quality shots soon.

What made it unplayable initially was the fretboard wood was rough and uneven. A lot of sanding took care of that. The sound of the bass is smooth, dark.

it looks like it has a 21 piece body. I think thats what i counted. WHat types of wood would all of those stripes be?

I had the same problem with my hyper wishbass...did the same sanding and refinish and combined with the KA pickup I am really happy with the results.

This is a great price here guys...these basses without the beautiful work done here go for this much if not more on ebay.

Ahhh, that's part of the appeal - the mystery of it all. :)

This bass is so solid, when you get done playing, you can use it to drive in fence posts, or similar duty.

I played it for awhile tonight, and it's got a strong sound. But I'm not pleased with some electronic fuzziness that I hear. So, assuming that you will want to take it in and get that rectified, I'm going to knock the price all the way down to
$429 shipped.

The only things that keep me from getting one are: the finish or more to the point... the lack of finish work Wish does... also Wish doesn't put truss rods in the necks... he states that 'they are strong enought without them'... :eyebrow:

what do you think? is the neck strong enough not to have the extra support?

... your efforts make this the nicest Wishbass I've seen thus far... makes me interested but still hesitant. :hiding:

It's not so much an issue of neck strength - this neck is as stout as a baseball bat. It's more of an issue of adjustability, having no control over neck curvature. But now that I've sanded the fretboard, the action is decent, and the lack of a truss rod should not be too much of a detriment.
