Up for sale or trade is my 1977 Fender Precision bass. This one is a player and is not completely stock. The pickup is a DiMarzio, the pickguard is Allparts, tusq nut, and the pots, cap, and input jack have been replaced with a wiring kit from Acme Guitar Works. This is a very light p-bass; I'm gonna say right around 8lbs. Frets still have plenty of life in them, the pickup sounds great, and is currently strung up with GHS flatwounds. There is nothing wrong structurally with this bass at all. Cosmetically she's beat. The finish is checking beautifully, and there is lacquer coming off the headstock. The decal is still in decent shape, but the next owner may want to clear coat the headstock to preserve the decal. The reason I'm getting rid of her is that I never really play her and I've come to realize that I prefer rosewood boards. That being said, if you have a '77 fretted rosewood p-bass neck that you'd like to swap I'm down with that.
I'm looking to trade for another 70's Fender P or J bass with a rosewood board and it has to be fairly light like my '77. I have back and shoulder problems that are aggravated by heavy instruments. I am open to trading for newer Fender basses too so long as they have rosewood boards, don't weigh too much, and are 4 strings. I'm not into 5 strings at all so let me tell you right now I won't even consider trading for a 5 string. The only other bass I would trade for is a hollowbody Lakland fretted or fretless 4 string bass. I'm a Fender guy through and through but I played a Lakland recently and am now lusting for one of my own.
