Sei Flamboyant 4: left-handed / headless.

SeiLh_5.JPG

Absolutely stunning bass with Figured Walnut front and back (with some spalting to the back edges) over a figured maple core. Seven-piece thru-neck of Wenge + Maple with an Ebony fretboard, featuring both maple lines (ie. lined-fretless) plus inlaid elliptical m.o.p. inlays (which transverse the f/board at the first octave) and square side-markers.

The front of the bass also features matching Walnut pickup covers and, similarly, the rear control & battery covers are created from the same figured walnut. The (covered) pickups are Bartolini MM HB's and the extensive Schack electronics/EQ incoporates Vol./Blend/Bas-Mid-Treble plus 2x coil-tap switches.

There are also 3x (4) dip switches inside the rear acity which can be personally set for Bass, Mid and Treble frequencies. This is a really exquisite bass and is bound to be snapped-up by a discerning 'lefty' which displays both the design/build + electronic mastery of Sei bass(es).

It's super-light at only 7.4 lbs (3.4kg) and has a total length (34" scale) of only 38" (96cm.) The body - at its widest point - is only 12". I've taken a photo alongside a Stinray, for comparison. [/I]Additional specs: 1.5" nut; strings spacing of 10mm (nut), 16mm (24th fret) and 19mm (adjustable) at the Bridge. It comes with a full (metal) flight case - ideal for major distances or on-the-road, although the bass can be used day-to-day in a guitar gig-bag; the case itself is some 18.6 lbs (8.5 kg).

Photos:- should hopefully show the quality of the woods, design and build: the bass is in excellent overall condition, with no major marks or dings at all. Plus the exceptional electronics package. Current pricing for the Sei Flamboyant 4 is £2100 ($4200 / €2045) but the extras inbuilt/with this example would raise the price to some £2500 at least (equates to $5000 / €3625).

$2800 shipped !

Beautiful David! How did you end up with a lefty? I've always wanted a Sei 4...

Thanks Brad .. it is a very nice example. Re. how/why I came by it.. it's along story (PM'd). I did think it might be possible to perform a 'Hendrix' or change of style (a-la Jimmy Haslip ... how DOES he do that?!!...) but the Flamboyant body, whilst extremely aesthetic and comfortable in the correct guise, just doesn't allow for this.... shame!

Not resorted to the ebay route as yet and would really prefer to sell via the Forum.

Serious offers will certainly be considered - the price is inclusive of USA (1-2 day) delivery.

Hi,
Is this the same bass that was on Ebay UK several weeks back ?
Yes there was one that sold for 600 or 700 hundred quid.

Asked the seller about this via my computer, as I remember seeing this or something very very very very similar. Same flightcase, same fretless 4, same body, and some f'board markings. Too similar to be anything else and Martin Pedersen doesn't really roll out lefty cookie cuts.

The reply from the seller: "The computer says no".

Maybe it is a different instrument. But if it were 600 - 700 quid I'd take it.

Not sure what you mean by ... "..Asked the seller about this via my computer.." & ... " ..reply from the seller: 'The computer says no'.... " .. (David Walliams?..).

You contacted me via TalkBass PM and I replied (in detail) by the same method.

I'm intrigued/concerned by this ebay auction (there are so many now using sourced photos, fake ID's and Feedback etc.) but have been unable to find it.
A bass of this quality for £600-700 would certainly be a bargain (if authentic, of course) .. why didn't you (both) bid ?!
