To be honest, I do not remember which strings that one had on it. If the winding on the post end is purple, they are Smith taper cores (stainless steel). If they are black, that one may have had Carvin nickel strings on it. I have experimented with a few different strings on the Smiths and have come to like the Smith Taper Core Bass Burners (nickel wrap, steel core). The are the best of both worlds for me.
