Correct. These are the Full (non-slotted) saddles. These are the ones that you can groove to your own specifiations.

Thanks for your interest.

Some people use a very small triangular file found at most hardware stores.

Some people get a small nick started, then use a round wound string to file out the groove.

I have heard of some people just stringing up and letting the groove develop naturally.

The manufacturer recommends having a tech file a groove for you based upon the specific size and type of string you use...in other words, custom grooved for you.

Most people I know of have gone with either #1 or #4, but my recommendation would be #4, since I am not much of a 'tech' type guy. It is a quick job and typically not expensive. Plus, it gives you a custom fit, warm and woody.

Thanks for your interest.

you get a file and make a groove. You have to be careful not to make the groove too big.

I know some people who got away with using the bridge without filing the saddles.

someone elses tutortial

Thanks for the link to that tutorial. It makes it sound pretty simple. I might be tempted to try that myself, and I'm all thumbs. It looked as though the author was using a fret dressing file, but I've seen common triangular files used, so long as they are very small.
