Hi all. I hope this isn't bad form over here (to join just to post a FS ad). If it is, someone let me know and I'll be happy to take down the listing.
I'm a guitar player, not a bass player, and bought this bass to noodle around on. Truth be told, though, it sits around unplayed and I could use the room. It needs to be in the hands of someone who can do it justice. I'm a frequent contributor on the Gear Page, The Hamer Fan Club and the Tokai Forum all under the same username (currypowder). I have many succesful purchases and sales on TGP, the Hamer forum and ebay (currypowder63) with many references.
Mid-80's Tokai Jazz Sounds bass with original precision upper pickup. I'm not sure of the exact year of manufacture, but I'm guessing mid 80's since it doesn't have the earlier spaghetti logo, but does have the correctly shaped matching headstock. The neck is a thinner Jazz Bass size neck. The pickguard is not original, it looks like someone took a jazz bass pickguard and routed the upper pickup opening to accommodate the P pickup. I'm also missing the pickup blender knob. Other than that, it's original and in good shape for a 20+ year old bass. Relatively new flatwound strings. If you know anything about the Japanese copies of the 70's and 80's then you know what a great bass this is. It's as good as any P or J bass I've ever heard and will hold up against any name brand bass of similar specs. Very versatile with the P & J pickups and the blender pot. Non original hard shell case included. $500 Shipped PRICE DROP - $450 Shipped with HSC, $400 Shipped with no case.
I also have a 25w Crate practice bass amp (purchased for the same reason). I have it listed for $100 over at TGP. I'd throw it in with the bass for $50 if the same person purchases both.
The pics below are from the previous owner. I can take additional pics if anyone wants them.
