Details

This Randall RBA 500 ES has been sitting in my closet for years, and I really don't need it (I gigged with it for about a year back in the day).

Specs are a little vague--I can only extrapolate from what I can see on the head itself. It'll handle a 2 ohm load. It gets stupid loud--you could run a giant stack out of it if you wanted to. It has a regular eq section with sweepable mids and an additional 7-band parametric eq (which is footswitchable). There's an effects loop and a di.

Condition: Somebody used it pretty hard before I got it. There are melty spots on top from cigarette burns. Some of the pots are gritchy (I put those chrome knobs on myself--handsome! The black knob is the volume--easy to find when you want to crank it). It doesn't look like much, but it's fully functional. The name plate is long gone.

It does have a deluxe, customized feature. If you flip the front panel to the other side, you get this (yeah, I added that too)!

So there you have it, a furry, loud, ugly amp. And it's cheap, too.

Another price drop: $50 + shipping (shipping weight is 45 lbs.)

What amp could be better during a depression?!

Comments

Some elaboration (in answer to a few questions):

It's solid state. I forgot to mention that paypal is fine. It sounds pretty good, actually--nice, clear tone with a lot of eq options (and some minor hiss).

Here's a picture of the inside, if you want a gander at that:

Want any trades for this? My church needs a better bass amp. They have a tiny 110 amp that doesn't cut it.

It's unclear from the amp whether it's 300w per side at 2 ohms, or 300w total. I'd lean towards the former.

I'm gonna venture to say that's unlikely. I can't imagine them making a stereo amp in that size/price category. 300w @2ohms means, what, 150w @4ohms -- so a smallish amp capable of running at 2ohms. If it were stereo, it wouldn't list a 2ohm rating with each channel having a 4ohm min, unless it also listed an explicit "bridged" rating -- which typically is only supported at a HIGHER impedance (so, 4ohms per side stereo, or 8ohms bridged). And the other places I've seen this amp just list it as 300watts.

And nothing there should be taken negatively -- that's a great price on a good little workhorse!! If I wasn't already loaded up with amps, I'd snag it in a heartbeat. The furry panel is BRILLIANT!!

Cheers!

While it's likely that you're right, I still have a suspicion that it puts out 500w into at least some combination of cabs. There's a label on the back that says 500w, and, crucially, the name of the head is RBA 500 ES. While of course that number could stand for all manner of stuff, or maybe it's just there to look cool (though it would obviously be cooler if it was the RBA 2000), a plausible hypothesis is that it stands for watts.

Unsolicited advice :)

I don't know Jumbotron personally, but I'd point you to the fact that he has feedback on 9 transactions and it's all positive, so that's a very good indicator of his reliability. Also, he's been a member here since 2006, and has a solid level of activity, so that's another good indication that folks here have interacted with him, and if there were a problem, he wouldn't be hard to contact and get a response from.

It is standard for the buyer to send payment to the seller, and for the seller to provide steady communication back to the buyer about the progress of the transaction (including package tracking information).

No forum is perfect, but I've had the most consistently well handled transactions here -- that includes ones that ended with deals being reversed, deals that required unusual or complex arrangements, etc. And I've seen folks work out disagreements here with the aid of other members, so it's a very engaged community.

No internet transaction is without risk, but this is one of the best places I've ever done business with other folks!

Cheers!
