This is a great phaser in aq compact package. The MXR Phase 90 sound is presented in a VERY low noise package. Yes there is only one know (speed) BUT what makes this phaser interesting for bass players is the presence of adjustable internal trimpots for the center of the phase shift and it's width.
What this means is that it is a uniquely tweakable phase effect that can be easily adapted to bass by raising the center of the phase shift so that the low end is preserved and the upper range shows dramatic phase effect. The adjustable width allows you to get higher-q, "funkier" sounds (think of the ehx Small Stone) without sacrificing the trademark MXR-style grit.
I would love to keep this but I can get very close to its sound with my ehx polyphase, and this can't do much of what the polyphase does. I would keep this as a second phaser, but i have other expenses to deal with, so my loss is your gain! I'll probably end up getting another of these in the future, it is the clear choice of MXR-style phasers for bass players.
