This is an onboard U-retro Deluxe preamp by John East. It's the 4-knob, 2-switch version with volume, blend, stacked 3-band EQ, and an extra passive tone control. Comes with several pages of diagrams and instructions. Chrome knobs included.
A couple years ago (2004?) I bought this preamp, listed as a "demo model". I'm not sure what exactly that entailed, but I got a slight discount ($225 instead of the current price of $300). I had it installed for a while in a crappy plywood bass just to play with it at home. It works fine and sounds pretty nice. But I'm selling it cheap for a couple reasons:
* I never got around to building the bass it was intended for, and don't want to modify any of my other basses to accommodate the extra switches.
* I am in perpetual need of cash for baby stuff!
* While installing it, I stupidly managed to cut the black wire to the battery connector, and had to re-solder it myself. Works fine, but the repair is easily visible (it's right in the middle of the wire) so it's certainly no longer in mint condition.
* This one came with the passive tone control disconnected, so you can either A) use it like a regular U-retro, or B) you'd have to solder the wires for that knob yourself. The papers that came with it describe how this should be connected. I never tried it.
If you don't care about the passive tone knob, all you have to solder is 4 wires - two for each pickup - and you're done.
