1976 Fender Precision Bass. As far as I know, it's all original. I'm sure if something doesn't look right you guys will point it out; this place knows a lot more than I do! Includes OHSC (kind of dirty and a little beat up, but it's there!). A few small dings, scratches, and some larger ones as well. Pickguard is busted near the input jack, see pics. I do not have the bridge or pickup covers, or the thumbrest. I HATE to get rid of this because I know I'll probably never get a chance to own another, but I desperately need funds to close on a house.

PayPal only. Would like to keep this in the US at this point. PM with any questions or if you need to see more pics. $1300.

What's up with that serial number? Shouldn't it be a 6 digit number all in the same kind of type? (Or if slightly later, it would begin with an S.) Just curious; I'm not intending to cast any doubt.....just haven't seen one like that before (and I used to own a '76 P).

Looking at the Fender website, it seems that either 76 + 5 digits or S6 + 5 digits denotes a '76 model.

If anybody has any additional info or could clear anything up further I'd welcome it.

If I need to I will pull the neck and see what we find.

Ah....that's cool. Sorry to hijack your thread anyway, but that was new to me. My old one was the "S" type, and I thought they went to that straight after the older 6-digit numbers. Again, certainly didn't mean to suggest something was wrong - just good to have the info.

No, no. By all means if someone has questions - ask away! Like I said before I don't know much about older stuff so if someone can provide additional information (good or not so good), the more the better. Whoever ends up with this will have a very nice bass, and I want them to have a VERY clear picture of what they are buying.

Looks like my first P-Bass from when I was 16! Question, though: what are those things that look like bolts sticking out of the body on either side of the bridge? Thanks in advance.

Joe
