I never thought I'd sell this one, but here she is. I'm just not playing it as much as I once was.

1983 Peavey T-40, sort of transparent-y burgundy with maple board. Most of these are either black or natural, apparently. I've never seen another one this color, but that doesn't really mean much.

Original case is long gone, but I do have a Coffin Case I will include. Currently has a white pearloid pick guard, I have the original black one and will include it as well.

Bass has some nicks and scratches. It's not mint, but it's in great shape for a 25+ year old bass. Few marks on the upper horn, my hands weren't steady enough to photograph them but they are there. A couple very small places on the back of the neck the finish has started chipping away. Overall it's a well-aged bass.

The only non-original part is the phase switch. When I got the bass the switch had been changed out and the new switch had a larger mounting diameter. To make it fit, the original pick guard had that hole enlarged. When the pearloid guard was installed, the hole was enlarged to fit. Shortly after, the phase switch broke. The replacement switch needed to fit the new, bigger hole in the pick guard, so a bit of wood in the control cavity was routed away to make it fit. Sorry for the long explanation, I just don't want anyone to be surprised.

Nice ... that's one classy look'n T-40 ... the PG is the icing on the cake! :)

I've heard the necks are like those on a "P" bass ... what's the width at the nut ... 1.75" or a bit less?

that's an interesting color you've got there... i've seen solid red, but never transparent. looks pretty cool though. any chance it's a refin? just curious is all. I have a black t-40 as well as a natural, and the only other colors i've seen are solid white, solid red, dark/tobacco burst, and a 3-tone burst. But in the end, who cares, it looks cool! Hope tsomeone gives this bad boy a good home... i would if i didn't already have 2!

I honestly have no idea if it's a refin or not. I don't *think* it is, but I could be wrong. Is there a way to tell for sure?

Under the pickguard looks the same... I will go pull it and take pics.

*Edit*
Camera is at the office, I'll just call Peavey tomorrow. I originally called them to verify the SN and they gave me date of manufacture and said something about the color, but I can't remember.

Just talked to Peavey, bass was shipped on April 8, 1983. The color is called Burgundy Burst. The gentleman I spoke with said that was the first time he'd ever heard of that color.

I think I came to my senses... played it last night through my VB-2 and fell in love all over again. Nothing quite like some sweet Peavey on Peavey action!

I'm gonna hang on to this for now, guys. Thanks for the interest!
