that's right, the body covers a lot of the scale, and the upper cutaway meets the neck at the 17th fret, so it doesn't feel like you're stretching for the first few frets.

Played those basses if it was a 5/6 and I had cash I'd buy it now those are killer basses

Nice bass. What is the neck shape like? You don't mention a case. Does it come with one? Thanks

it's 1.5" at the nut and 2.5" at 24th fret. it's c shaped at the nut and flattens out toward the body. I think it's a very comfortable neck, but if you've read any of the "neck profile threads" here, that is very subjective. it is a stable neck. I've had it for about 3 years and never had to adjust the truss rod. I sold my last semi-hard case with a bass a few weeks ago. I do have a cheap gig bag that I would be happy to ship it in.
