Details

This Rickenbacker 4003 bass is in the limited run "color of the year" Amber Fireglo. It is in mint condition. I'm offering it for $1750. Neck through body for great sustain. Solid maple. Ambered binding, neck and body. Has push-pull button for vintage or modern tone. Twin pickups, separate volume and tone pots for each pickup. Double-truss-rod neck construction for great stability, straight neck with no fret buzz. Triangle inlaid fret markers. "Ric-O-Sound" stereo output jack as well as regular output jack. I am including a vintage-style Ric strap. Comes with original hardshell case. This bass has never left the house since I bought it new in May 2008 and has at most 5 hours of playing time on it. There are no structural issues or cosmetic issues (no dings or scratches). The only reason I am selling it is that I have developed tendonitis in my left hand on top of carpal tunnel syndrome. While I can still play bass, I have to play a short-scale (30.5") instrument. I cannot play a 34" scale bass or this 33" scale Rick without aggravating the condition from having the spread my fingers out too far when I play up by the nut. Since I have a third child going off to college this fall, I can't afford to have a bass around the house that I can't play. I am in Knoxville, Tennessee if you would like to see and play the bass. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.

For your sake I hope this beauty sells quickly but for my sake I hope it stays around for a few more months as I might be forced to buy her if she's still around this summer.

Bump for a sweet bass. Sorry to hear about your wrist; I also suffered the double-whammy of CTS and tendonitis in my left wrist back in late 2007, but it still affects my wrist to this day (have to wear a brace at night and sometimes during the day when it flares up). I got it from a combination of frequent bass practice and constant typing, and I was only 18! Just do the exercises the doctor orders and you should be fine.

But hey, if you wear the brace while playing it'll make you feel a bit like a bassist version of Johnny Greenwood, right? Right..... :hmm:

Thanks, guys. The Rick really sounds and looks beautiful. It's really frustrating to make my hands worse when I play it. Keep me in mind if you have the money together when summer rolls around. BTW, I blame my injuries on typing, carrying heavy things with my wrists at a 90 degree angle, and my bad guitar technique when in my teens and 20's. Take my word for it, keep your wrists as straight as you can. Oh well. The exercises do help, and I do the sleeping with braces routine as well. Thank goodness I can still play a short scale bass.

I'll definitely keep you in mind if I have the money. You've also inspired me to search the forum on how else to avoid such problems before they start. It seems like the straight wrist thing is the best way along with warming warming up and stretching. I wish you a full recovery.

The $1750 price includes shipping anywhere in the CONUS, or, if you live within 200 miles of Knoxville, Tennessee, I will drive to where you are and hand it to you in person.

Bump - I've always wanted one of these, and this one looks beautiful. Good luck with the sale! And I can sympathize with the hand troubles. I was diagnosed with arthritis five years ago (when I was 27) and my chops have never recovered. Hope yours do!

Thanks very much. It is a great bass; sounds wonderful and is easy to play (if you have normal hands) :crying:
