OK, I made a half ass attempt at getting an ultra light sadowsky modern 5 with a pretty top here:
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=540009

Now I am going all out and throwing my recently aquired alleva coppolo LG4 out as a trade option for a Sadowsky modern or P of the same or higher caliber.

I am currently set for a classic jazz sound (with a variation or two) with any ONE of these basses, let alone three. That being said, they are beautiful and won't be given away without a cool trade. I thought the AC was going to join my Curbow on the never to go list, but I enjoyed the others while I had the AC in for setup and now they are all in the same conversation. :)

So...now one or two of these are for trade. if I am down to 1 (or maybe at 2), I will pull them off the market, as I still want minimum one jazz bass in the stable.

Getting to PM's in order they arrived.

Some pics are here...now that I have it back from its setup I will show the changes to the pickup height...and improved action from when i got it. As you can see in one pic, got a scuff on the head I didnt realize till looking at these old pics.

I have just taken a few more now. It's beautiful. I also got two new photos from TK while he had the neck off, his photography lags behind his luthier skills...but i will put them up anyway...some writing, signitures, etc including a date = 8-23-08.

Just repeating for yall I want to keep ONE of the 4's too if possible.

Oh: thanks for the pic Mr Kadet ;)

I also have a b/w/b pick guard made at the NYC shop.
I also had the controls switched from vol/vol to vol/blend and of course it has the vtc etc. This bass has a very nice freckling on the maple board too if you zoom in. This bass cost over $3400.00 Plays and sounds completely awesome but I'd like to try an AC at some point.

What is your spec on the AC ?

email returned. thinking about some offers but breath not completely taken away yet :)

And I am leaning more towards a 5 & modern/ p/j ... unless i can get an early 60s ultralight P. No doubt its yet another beautiful sadowsky.

Some specs on the AC (let me know what I miss - And Maybe BassKadet could weigh in if I am wrong):
Preamp with the electronic layout being volume/volume/ passive tone/ treble boost/ bass boost.
34" scale
I would guess spacing to be 19 at the bridge?
just setup with the existing 45-105s on it
Nitro Ice Tea finish...stunning burst
Alleva copollo handmade pickups
old school fine frets (though dont know spec)
Alder body
Indian rosewood board on maple neck I believe

According to site;
7.25” fingerboard radius.

As you can tell I am hardly a tech...I just play it and it is nice and pretty slim and smooth (which is why I loved it so much - a bit llike my beloved curbow neck). The only annoying thing from my perspective is taking the neck off to tweak. I don't do that sort of thing...so for someone like me, it takes a trip to the local luthier for a minor adjustment...whereas my sadowsky/musicman I can fine tune easier .

just got a PM, hopefully I didnt give the impression something was wrong with the neck, it just needs the neck off to tweak because the adjustment "thingy" is hidden (just like it was on my Bob Frenz bass). Looks cool as *, but, you need to take neck off, then tweak, then put neck back.

Just an FYI: If I can't get a deal sorted by Saturday night, I will close the thread for 10 days while I have a crazy work week. Not to rush anyone, as I am not in a rush myself...just so y'all know I may be out of contact often from sunday onwards.

I am in conversations with someone re the NYC sadowsky, with someone else waiting to make a cash deal if that falls through. i will still hear offers for the AC and Tokyo, if that leaves me 1/2 jazzes.

Have a good weekend TBers

Hey y'all,

I am going to be slow to contact and rarely checking the thread...so will close it for the next 10 days, PM or email if you want to discuss something and I will get back at you as soon as i can (but may be slow)

Thanks

Alright y'all - an update. My Sadowsky 4 string went to Washington, and is being treated with appropriate love :)

I am going to try to not sell any others for now as long as my current cash lives. Thanks for looking

hey mate,

funny that you bought this thread back up. My Alleva Coppolo 4 is now up for sale again...and cheaper this time. I am going to let it go for $2750 plus shipping. If it interests you please let me know.

Can get alot of Vegimite for that! Nice basses!

Hey Mike, I just got payment for it. I was chasing about $2750 for it, but ended up taking a partial trade deal. I had best be closing the thread now as the tokyo is now about to have a bass-off with my coming bass, to see which jazz bass stays. i will open a new thread for them soon. If HonestAbe doesn't dig it, I will let you know.
