Time to change things up a bit. And to do that, I need to sell one of my favorite basses. If you haven't played a Skjold, you really owe it to yourself to try one out. Besides having a really unique design look (that I've grown to love!), the tone of this bass will rock your world, my friend. :)

Flame maple top
Spanish Cedar body
Cherry finish
Cocobolo Fretboard
7 piece maple/purple heart neck
Skjold split coil pickups
Skjold/East preamp.
8 lbs.
Gator case

This preamp is amazing. Very versatile tones with the 4-way pickup selector switch. Passive tone control (pull up for passive), treble (pull up for treble boost), bass, and high/low mid knobs. This bass has that huge tone that all Skjold owners covet. There's a reason that you see very few Skjolds here on the classifieds. For one, they are made in small batches, so there's just not that many around. But, mainly, it is because they are TONE MONSTERS! If this sells, I will get another some time in the near future!

The condition of this bass would be mint, except for a few indentations on the back. They're not bad, but they are there. This is my lightest bass, with my scales saying 8 lbs. Comes with a nice Gator case.

Oh, and did I mention it weighs only 8 lbs.? In case that matters to you. :)

How about $1800 shipped in the CONUS.

Oh man. These basses are killer. If you want a great, solid, well built bass with a ton of tonal variety, this is it. You can't find a better guy to deal with, either.

I'm turning this into a "feeler" thread. The bass I was gassing for has been sold, so I'm not so intent to sell my Skjold now. I'll leave it up for a while longer to see if there are any interesting trades out there. :)

Can you tell me the scale length, and string spacing at the bridge, please? Do you know the fingerboard radius?

Thanks,

JD
35", 18mm, and the radius goes from 12" at the nut to 18" at the 24th fret... fairly flat.

Also, the neck profile is a rather "shallow C", which is SUPER comfy in the hand. These are "fast" necks.

Thanks AGAIN, Vic! :D
I agree, the neck on this Skjold is SUPER comfy. The finish on the neck feels like bare wood, making it feel very "fast".

This is pretty much a perfect bass in my eyes. It has everything I am looking for in a bass. $1800 is hefty on a college kid's budget though.

Gah.

If this thing doesn't sell and you're still interested at the end of the summer then maybe I will have enough then.

Possible trade in the works. Nothing final. Would still prefer a cash sale.

That's right, tho it's not actually bare wood. Pete's got a proprietary process where the neck is protected, but still feels like wood, and typically won't "wear shiny" or smooth. It's way cool.

what is the String spacing and scale lenght?

I'll copy and paste Vic's info since he's got all the deets:

35", 18mm, and the radius goes from 12" at the nut to 18" at the 24th fret... fairly flat.

Also, the neck profile is a rather "shallow C", which is SUPER comfy in the hand. These are "fast" necks.
