You know it. You want it. You neeeed it!

Super cool cab. Tolex covering. Vintage-y style grill cloth. Beautiful. Bought from Don at LDS directly and used on four gigs. Consider this one "professionally broken in".

8 ohms. 45 lbs. It's light. It's loud. Easy to schlep. And sounds really good. Only problem is: Tone is not for me. (But the bottom end is to die for.) Plus, let's face it: I'm a gear slut! :help:

Chef just sold the twin to this cab for a song. IMO, that was a deal. This one is going to be more. According to Don, new this would cost in the mid $600's plus shipping.

$499 plus shipping/insurance. No trades, please. Shipping info is 21" H x 25" W x 25" D and 57 lbs.

What drivers and crossover ( xover point? ) are in it?

Drivers are Eminence 3015LF woofer and an 18Sound 6.5 mid driver. (Don't know the model number of the mid driver.) This is taken from KJung's thread that is linked in my first post:

Don has been making this sort of design for quite a few years, but like other cab designers on the site, he became even more interested in this general design with the introduction of the new super duper Eminence Neo 115 and that super duper 18Sound mid driver (I have no clue as to the specific model numbers, but I assume others can fill in that info).

I should point out that the particular cab I tried was not based on some of the specific designs talked about here on Talkbass, but is Don's own take of this general design (i.e., 15/6.5), along with a Ralf Patterson custom crossover. I also don't know the crossover design or particulars, but the general crossover point is 1.3K or so, based on a post Ralf just put up over on the LDS Mega thread.

All components are top notch. This cab is the real deal.

I had this cab's twin for a while.
for me, it was every bit as much a big venue single cab solution as:
AE410; 410UL; henry 8x8

good stuff. much ligheter, smaller and more portable than any of those others i just mentioned.

I was at a club Saturday with my 15/6, bands before me were using giant 4x10s (ampeg 4x10hlf and a kustom) and I was able to get at least as loud as them if not moreso with just my 1001 RB II and 15/6. :)

His cab came with a 3015 installed instead of the 3015LF.
The 3015LF has more xmax and is tuned lower: a better fit for a two way cab.

Don has since sent him the correct driver, which he installed.

Is that right Geni?

Yup.

Don had a batch of drivers sent to him that were mis-boxed, IIRC. 3015's in 3015LF boxes? Something like that.

The cab sounds really good with the 3015, but it was designed for the 3015LF. The LF, in this cab, just has more "balls". Plus, the mid driver seems to work better with the LF speaker.
