I found a '66 P at a local pawn shop. I can't afford to have it myself, but I'd love to get it in the hands of the right player. The pawn shop has to hold it for 30 days, so it's not available yet. However, I want to make sure everything is legit. I'm not looking to make any middle-man money, but I would just like to play it for a couple days before shipping it off should a TBer want it. I do expect to have the cost and shipping covered completely and am willing to send receipts for the purchase and shipping.
It is a red P with a definitely-not-original chrome PG. The serial # on the neck plate and the stamp on the end of the neck both suggest that it is a 66 (stamp on the neck was something like "5OCT66C" and the serial # was like 16xxxx). The bridge and tuners look original to my untrained eye. I'm a little wary of the body only because there was nothing on it to suggest a date. It has some wear, but not what I would call 43 years worth. It is worn in all the right places.
I'm going to get some pics tomorrow. The owner likes to show me the "good stuff" and he said I'm only the second person to know he has it. A small outlay will hold it for me when it is available for sale, but he hasn't gotten me a price as he says he's got to research it.
So, is anyone interested? What questions should I ask? PM me offers so I know if he's serious about the price tag, but place all general questions in this thread so that all interested can see this. I'm not sure what this should be worth as I haven't started my own research yet.
Again, I don't own this so there is a VERY slim window of opportunity. I have enough cash to cover the "hold money" but not enough to own this for myself.
