For those that might be wondering if this box is for you, here are a couple things to consider. I stopped using it when I went to flats. I also found it less necessary when I was taught how to more properly use my eq settings on my amp.

I found it most useful in situations that I was not using my own amp, I could just plug this unit in to whatever rig I was using, and I could dial in my own sound. Also, if you are using a smaller cab, or maybe a cab with, say, 10" speakers, but you want to get a fatter tone, this unit can really help you do that. I liked taking it to rehearsals so I could get a fat tone out of the smaller rehearsal rig at our practice space.

And if you play a lot through a PA, the DI function on this box is nice, gets a nice tone. I found that I used it just for that sometimes, without even turning the box on. You'll find that even in the "off" position, the DI is not totally transparent, but in a good way. I found it did not really color the tone, but more it boosted the signal. Not a whole lot, but enough to notice. Our sound guy liked the box a lot, and he was not always a fan of the direct out in my amp, so I knew if the BDDI did not sound good or was problematic he would tell me.

I never really tried to use it as a pre-amp so I can't speak to that.

PM's replied. This unit is now in "as new" condition since I got the remaining adhesive residue off. The residue was on the back, left over from velcro I had used.
