I don't want to or need to but...... I should. If I sell another this SJ may come off the market. CHoices can be difficult sometimes so maybe you all with help.

Shes in amazing condition. A couple little kisses here and there but nothing you can see without really searching for. I'm starting to think most people out there lean there basses against cabs and such as almost every single one I have purchased used has little tiny marks on the back of the neck just like this one. They are so minimal that it don't matter but it's surprising to me that this happens so commonly. Anywho. Got side railed.

Walnut body
Contrasting bubinga layer
Flamed maple top honey burst I believe it's called.
Walnut neck
Pap ferro fretboard
Pearloid blocks
Super fattie pups
Glockenklang 2 band
Case and case candy

If I didn't already have my Super J I would be having a major crisis right now. Beautiful, beautiful bass my man. For anyone looking at this bass, I can tell you right now that most definitely want a Super J with walnut neck and fatties in your life. Recipe for happiness right there.

Nice to hear from ya Tony and your dead right, walnut neck = awesome.
If I could spec it on the build I would. That said it's gonna be walnut body and top.

While your here you should throw up a photo of your beauty SJ cousin.

Yeah, you too! We haven't talked in a while. I was just thinking that I've been so busy I haven't been on here in ages.

Can't wait to see pics of your new build. Walnut is beautiful wood. Here's my walnut neck solidarity picture. Too bad there's some goofy bass player in the picture also. Lol!

Yup. Believe me. This is a very hard decision to list this bass. Same for the Z but both of these basses I feel to be main players in someone's world and that said so do the ones I'm keeping. My other SJ and Z is outta this world and I think between the 2 offer me more diversity. Anywho. Rambling. I love all of these basses.

Thanks for the interest. At this point I'll say they won't be going anywhere for a loooong time but life is to unpredictable to stick to that statement down the road.

If I was a rich man I would have bought one of them brubakers off of ya. You decided to keep the brown one and sell the black?

Naw sold the redwood one also. Just bored looking for new toys. Looks like your a rich man to me with all those Dingwalls. :bassist: Know anyone selling a Z3 6?

Nope. They seem pretty darn hard to find. I think bass direct U.K. Had one....

I have taken a few photos of any blemishes I could find. So minor and hard to find but here is what I did find.

I almost could not disclose this as it only shows up at the right angle it is so slight that you have to catch it in the right light it was very hard to photograph

Man, your SJ5 looks seriously nice.. always been partial to flamed maple tops.. stupid q, but I've played a few other J type fivers (lull, sadowsky, f bass vf5) is it easy to adjust to the fan fret from these? I'm guessing chords might be a bit easier too at the high end because of the natural finger spread.

In any case this bass is seriously making me consider attacking my savings lol

DO IT!!! It will change your life and it took me all of about 10 minutes to be cool with fanned frets.

About all I can tell ya that Tony hasn't is that this bass has the sweetest action. I think most people adapt quite well to dingwalls. The bottom end isn't like you might think it is. It's very natural. The top is great but I think for certain chord fingering is where people have to retrain them selves a bit. If there is any learning curve I'd say that be it.

And seriously. I've played a fair amount of basses and not much ever compares to the action on a Dingwall. Especially a short scale.
They are just always a pleasure and this one is no exception.

If you don't take this sweet lady then by all means if you can find another down the road I highly recommend it

It's crazy nice!!! That's why I couldn't not get it. Sweet sweet action too. But alas, I knew we were destined to have a temporary encounter in life. With the rest of what I have going on our time was limited from the out set.

Pardon me as I go off the topic. Is there much difference in sound between your Z3-5 and Z3-6? Aside from the tops, they seem to have similar wood and possibly the same pre-amps. The main difference is the pickups. Do you prefer one over the other.

I'm a few months away from receiving a Z3-6 similar to yours.

The pick ups are definitely different. With that, the walnut neck vs the maple I think does play a part. I'd say the maple and FD3s are more snarly and aggressive.

The walnut and SFs have a huge articulate bark with more warmth I'd say. Still extremely clear and "honest".

I cannot say I have a preference. I have a preference to have 6 strings but I really love both of these basses.

I guess a similar description applies to my SJs main difference being the 2 band vs 3 band.

Thanks for your observations. If I didn't have the Z3-6 on order, I would be very tempted by your beautiful SJ-5. I got an SJ-4 before the SJ-5s were available. Now if I get a 5, Sheldon will probably release a 6.
