Details

For sale is this 3/4 upright from right around 1900.
That is to say the body dates from that time. The original neck was broken. The neck and fingerboard that is on now was made by Arnold Schnitzer in 1998. He also put a new bridge on it.
Other details:
Carved top
Flat back
C-extension
B-band pickup
String length is about 41 3/8"
Body width is about 8 1/2"
And it includes a relatively new Bobelock case

I just got it back from Mike Egan of Egan Strings. He made sure all the cracks were glued and not an issue, set it up and put a brand new set of Helicore Hybrid Mediums. He also went over the edges to make sure they were healthy. Action is fairly low. It plays easy.

This is a really beautiful sounding instrument. I've done all sorts of gigs with it - jazz, rock, classical. It is ready to go. Please feel free to ask questions about it.
Asking $8000

You can hear it on my Soundcloud - all the tracks except 'Catch a Star':
"Hazelrigg Brothers's profile - Hear the world’s sounds"

Also can be heard on this track I played on last fall:

Or on the Bona Fide record from last year - Lobby Interlude:
iTunes - Music - Bona Fide by Bona Fide

I'm certainly willing to work with the asking price. This is a really great sounding instrument and should go to a good home.

Hey Geoff. I'm interested. Everything solid - no open cracks? Fingerboard without rattles? I live in Delco Springfield PA. When can I take a look?

I hate to have this instrument just sitting here not being played. Probably use it for a session this week but would like to find a good home for it.
Come check it out.

I know it's got the extension, but if it was a five string.. it would be mine..

Also on your recordings, was there a microphone used on the bass? I can't tell if its just the pickup with the amp.

In the recordings it's only a mic - either a 4038 or a U47.

I played this bass a bit over the weekend and it sounds so good. It deserves to be played.

Flexible with the price.

cool..

like i said though unfortunately for me, It's gotta be an actual 5-string.. I can't do the "flipping" thing or totally puttin my hand/elbow above my head to play a C haha.. that just doesnt' make sense for me.. especial if you just want to play octaves on C haha..

anyway, good luck with it .. and it does sound good.

I'm getting my other bass worked on, so for the next 2 months or so I really have no interest in selling this bass.
Any interested folks are still welcome to come check it out, but I'll be keeping it for now.

Back up for sale. This bass kills. It plays so great and sounds amazing. Since October I've done a good bit of gigging and a number of recording sessions with it. Everyone that hears it thinks it sounds great too.
