Wanted fEARful Mids

Details

I'm planning to build two more fEARful 12/6/1's shortly. I need a pair of mid drivers, and since I haven't yet bought the crossovers, they can be 18 Sound or Eminence. 18 sound 6nm410 or 6nd410, or Eminence alpha / alphalite 6A.

Pm replied. I'm on the fence about which mid to go with. Obviously the alphas are the cheapest option, but also slightly heavier and would negate the 12 sub option.

Here's the background:
I currently have a 12/6 and a 15/6. I built the 15/6 out of araucco and the 12/6 is a speakerhardware.com Baltic birch flat pack. They both weigh about 50lbs. The baffle on the 12/6 is the same orientation as the 15/6, so they don't stack with the mids and HF horn aligned vertically. That's my fault, I asked Leland for a "reverse baffle" not realizing the standard baffle on the original plan for the 12/6 IS reversed from the 15/6. I also used the prescribed Penn Elcom folding handles (dislike, heavy), large input plate (heavy, used recessed 1/4" plywood on the 15/6) and added a folding tilt foot (not as useful as I thought, heavy). It has a rubber over steel strap handle on top the is uncomfortable at this weight and is in the way of every head I try to set on it. I installed the Dayton wave guide and ASD1001 driver as in my 15/6, but never bought our installed the Xover on the 12/6- mostly because I can't discern much of a difference with it up full on the 15/6. The fact that the 15/6 and 12/6 are so close in weight bugs me every time I pick up the 12/6.

So I need to build a 12/6 that stacks with the 15/6. I intend to source lighter ply and use much lighter hardware (1/4 ply input jack plate, Penn Elcom leather look strap handles, no tilt foot). I'm also going with true three way crossovers this time. I have two more 3012 LFs on hand. I also have a potential buyer for my current 12/6. My plan was to just build two 12/6/1's using alpha's or alphalite's. But I honestly like the hot mids from the 6nm410- and usually leave the Lpad switched off.

I think I've found my direction with this, and am planning to go with one with an 18sound mid and a 12 sub. Thanks to stonetazz for the quick response!
