Having been a long time player of a Big Al, having always wanted a (after playing a few) Dingwall... and after having a MIA P Deluxe for a few years - I feel I owe it to you to say, "Think hard before making this trade!"
I don't know if you have any experience with these basses, but my experience was not good at all. I hated Fender for many years after my purchase. Mine was a late 90s ('98 or '99), and it had more issues than any bass I ever owned. The tuners all had play in them, and when I brought them to an authorized repair person he told me they're horrible, they break frequently, and my only choice would be to completely replace them which I couldn't afford at the time. Pieces were literally falling off of mine, and there was some sort of short going on with the pickguard that messed with the electronics in a way I don't really remember. I'm sure I posted about it here, but its got to be buried deep - around the first days of TB.
I also was shocked at how thin sounding that beefy looking bridge pickup was.
The bass felt great, but I hated everything else about it. I wouldn't dream of trading a Dingwall for that. Looking only to be helpful here... I also know what its like once we've set our sights on something.
Good luck!
