For you consideration: a Fender Custom Shop '59 Precision New Old Stock (NOS) in sunburst.
Background: I bought this new from Chambers Guitars here in Nashville in 2003. It was my main instrument from 2010 until 2015.
Description: The instrument's fit-and-finish is magnificent and it is in very-good-plus to excellent condition. The nitrocellulose lacquer finish has swirling and checking consistent with an instrument of this age. The finish also has some minor pocking, most of which is on the back and all of which is the product of normal use (see pictures). Constructed of quarter-sawn maple, the neck is glossy and comfortable, and the rosewood fretboard’s edges are beautifully rolled. The fretwork is excellent and the body is extremely resonant.
The bass is fitted with a custom tortoiseshell pickguard made by Tony Dudzik at Pickguardian and Schaller strap lock buttons in chrome. Recently set up at Corner Music here in Nashville, it has low action and sports Thomastic-Infeld Superalloy roundwound strings. The weight is somewhere around nine pounds. (The tugbar, which is missing in the pictures, will be reinstalled before the instrument ships.)
The instrument comes with the original hardshell case (tweed w/gold plush in vg+/excellent condition), ashtrays, and the Certificate of Authenticity.
Asking price: $1900 plus shipping. Paypal only. I will pack the instrument carefully and ship via FedEx upon receipt of funds. CONUS only; no trade offers please.
I invite interested parties to contact me by PM with any questions that they may have. In the meantime, some pics:
