Before we start I am not interested in trades. I’ve been gravitation towards 32” scal basses so I’m selling some 34” ones.
Up for sale is a Fender JP-90. They were built between 1990 and 1993. The model was discontinued due to most players not liking the shape of the pickguard which is one of the points I really like.
When I bought this bass few years ago it was in great playing shape but the body was rough. I mainly bought it because I love the neck width and profile.
The previous owner tried to spray paint over a nick in the body. The body had a ton of overspray on it.
The pickguards on these basses were very thin. Most cracked and fell apart.
I disassembled the bass, worked on getting the original finish back. I then ordered a custom pickguard. Also I’m not a huge fan of chrome hardware so I went all black.
I purchased new BAD ASS tuners, a Hipshot MASSkicker bass bridge, black knobs, and installed a Stellartone Tonestyler tone control.
The bass plays flawlessly and other than a few marks, it looks phenomenal. These maybe the fastest necks Fender ever made.
The nick that the previous tried to cover with spray paint is in the front top of the body in the valley behind the upper horn. There is also one very small nick in the back of the body. Photos attached.
Lastly there is scratch in the back of the neck that went through the clear finish. It’s behind the 10th/11th fret. Photo attached.
I played this bass many times and never noticed it until just now.
If I was keeping it I would simply wipe on some poly to build it up and then lightly finish sand it smooth. Quite easy.
34” scale
1-1/2” at the nut
Weighs less than 8-1/2 lbs.
Volume, Tone, and 3-way mini toggle pickup selector.
Most JP-90s I’ve viewed online were running $650 and up plus shipping and tax.
I’ve invested over $450 in upgrades/parts alone but I’m wanting to move it so I’m selling the bass for $595 with free shipping CONUS.
No case or gig bag, but I’ve saved some bass shipping boxes and it will be wrapped and packed securely.
