Details

I have never really been fond of the necks on the Fender five string basses or any other brands that have fairly wide string spacing and I have recently traded another bass that I was not using much for an SR605 so I am selling my Fender Standard Jazz V (MIM). It was made in 2000 according to the serial number. I believe that at least two other people have owned it before me and I bought it here on the TB classifieds in December of 2012. Previous owners have done some mods to it, I have done none myself. The stock string tree(s) has/have been replaced with the one shown in the photos. The stock pickups were replaced with Bart 57J1's but the original pickups will be included. The neck bolt plate is a Fender "F" plate. There is a plastic thumbrest attached with one screw through one of the pickguard holes, the free end just rests against the neck pickup. And the bass comes with Schaller straplock buttons. That is all the changes I am aware of, if something else looks different to you it was probably changed too.

The bass weighs 10 pounds 2.625 ounces according to my kitchen scale. The string spacing at the nut is 10.25 mm and at the bridge it is 17.4 mm. It is a bass that has been played as well as modded so there is some wear from both but overall it is in good condition. I've tried to photograph the largest of a couple of small dings on the back of the neck. There are some light scratches in the body paint and pickguard and while the pickups work fine and sound great someone appears to have lost control over a soldering iron while working on them and melted some grooves in the covers as shown in the pictures.

The bass plays well and sounds great. These Barts are split coil Jazz pickups so no single coil hum yet they sound reasonably close to single coils otherwise. I will ship it carefully boxed up by itself or in the heavy, beat up, hard case that I recieved it in. After trying both I realized that I strongly prefer the Ibanez five string necks over the Fender five string necks but this is a fine player's bass and it can be yours for $350 plus shipping!
