I bought this because I wanted a 60's style Fender P bass with a low B string and flatwound strings. I was trying to emulate my 66 P bass but with a low B string. I got a good deal on this bass and I'm passing it along. I had my luthier cut a new nut and go through the bass when I got it. Then I put some Thomastik jazz flats on it. They are spendy but worth it. This bass plays great. I used it on a gig last night (blues Bros. tribute) and it sounded and played great. I'm retiring at the end of this year so I'm downsizing for my move.
The bass has a few mods....... the previous owner hand routed the MM humbucker into the bridge position. It's a decent job but you can tell it was freehanded in there. It makes this bass versatile enough to do just about any style gig. The cavity was shielded with shielding paint. The MM pickup has a coil tap (series/parallel switch). It is wired vol/vol/coil tap/tone. It has a few significant dings (check the pics) that I covered with a little sharpie ink. The pics posted are from when I bought the bass and it looks exactly like it did then except for Schaller straplocks, the flatwound strings and sharpie ink. Right at 10 lbs.
