Here is the modern, hi fi, scooped mids pickup set that has been compared to the Sadowsky tone and the Marcus Miller style. Special emphasis on the lows (big and bassy) and the highs (glassy and singing). I bought these brand new from Guitar Center (special order, they didn't have them in stock) a few months ago for my Fender MIM Jazz bass. I had them professionally installed. I've only logged less than an hour of playing time on them so they are like new. They can be wired in series (HUGE LOWS, THICK TONE!) or parallel (more controlled, and less earthshaking) or you can install a coil tap switch (not included) to toggle between the two options. These pickups are humbucking, so there is absolutely no 60 cycle hum even with one or the other pickups completely soloed.
Here is what Dimarzio says on their website:
The hum-cancelling Ultra Jazz™ takes a traditional Fender® Jazz Bass® sound and really opens it up. Lows are deeper, highs are more percussive, and the mid-range is round but not muddy. Harmonic overtones jump off the strings. It’s also quick; with instant response to either fingers or pick-style playing. There’s only one word for this combination of qualities: “musical”. Choose the perfectly matched Ultra Jazz™ pair, or try an Ultra Jazz™ bridge pickup with a Split P™ in the middle position.
Go here to the Dimarzio website to read the specs and listen to a sound sample: http://dimarzio.com/site/#/pickups/ That link takes you to their main site. Go to the bottom of the page and click "Bass," then click on "Standard" (for 4 string), then click on "Ultra Jazz Set."
At the moment I don't have any pics of the pickups alone as they are still in my bass for one last worship set at church tonight, but here is a stock photo from Musician's Friend:
Musician's Friend sells them for $98 plus shipping, I believe (they have free shipping on orders $99 or higher) but you can steal them from me for only $69 shipped!
Check out my feedback here as well as on Ebay under the name "classicgrooves" where I have 100% positive feedback and 112 points. The pickups will be ready to ship out later this week and will come with all original packaging.
Feel free to email me directly at [email protected] and thanks for looking!
