Just making some changes to my board and though this is the sickest, thickest dual-12AX7 three-channel preamp and footswitching overdrive I have ever pushed my signal through, I am not using a solid-state head anymore and it is time to pass it on.
The V-Twin provides unbelievable cleans with silent operation and really lovely warmth and definition, but with the push of a button can bump up to the Blues channel, which injects some nice grit, and then again to the Solo channel for tube-saturated madness with preserved lows and articulation. I have recently been running this as a front end to an Ampeg V4BH, and using this to pummel those preamp tubes is endless fun. This baby is built of heavy-gauge steel plate and is indestructible. Can also be used to go direct to the board or mixer, or as a headphone amp. Has onboard three-band EQ, gain, volume and presence. Check the web for more info - it really is a Mesa in a stompbox.
I also just put in a new matched pair of Mullard reissue 12AX7's. Some mild surface scratching, but nothing terrible and works great, without a hiccup.
