I have a like-new Gretsch G5440 LSB with case for sale or potentially trade. I am the original owner and have owned it for about 9 months. You would never know it wasn't new. The case is the only case or gig bag that fits it and was another $180. The bass itself was $899. It has a unique sound and is very versatile, especially depending upon where you pluck. The only reason I'm selling is that I'm in three bands, and really need another precision or the like, and can only afford two basses at a time.
The full specs are on the Gretsch site, but a few things about the bass itself in case you haven't played one before: the nut is 1.75" and the carve is full, so it's a big neck. It is heavier than it looks, but no moreso than your average solidbody. My guess is about 8 pounds, but that is just a guess. Being that it is a full hollowbody with a beefy neck, it is a bit neck heavy, but with a decent strap it's never been a problem. Also, it is prone to feedback with distortion like any hollowbody, but this isn't the bass for that, regardless. Lastly, being that it is a 34" scale with a longer body, it does feel long. I just want to be up front about any uniqueness about this bass. It is a blast to play, and sounds like no other bass I've owned. But I really need more simplicity than anything right now.
It's currently strung with LaBella DTFs, but I believe I have the original rounds, as well.
I would consider trades for a precision type (doesn't necessarily need to be Fender), a musicmaster, or potentially something like a G&L L1000 or the like. I am not after any 5+ strings, or fancy body shapes.
I'm looking for $750 shipped/paypalled OBO. As for trades, I don't have the cabbage to add to a deal, so it would have to be even or some my way. Wow, I typed a lot... sorry for the long post.
