Up for sale or trade ...

Heartfield DR5 ! This was made by Heartfield through Fender in the late 80's, early 90s...this one was made in 1989. This is a high quality bass that was made in the matsumoko factory (IIRC) and retailed for $1099 !!! Seriously great bass. Has 19mm spacing and a super comfortable neck that's a combo of wood and graphite. Weighs 8.8 lbs. This one has had the preamp removed (before I got it) and is wired passively. Sounds GREAT ! Also, the stock tuners were replaced with Hipshots! Seriously, if this doesn't sell, I'll HAPPILY keep it !!!

EDIT: I added a few more pics...19mm string spacing...1 7/8" nut width...there's a small, light indentation near the 5th fret treble side, but it's very light...see photos

$500 shipped CONUS

EDIT: I have a preamp from a Lakland 55-01 I can send the buyer or trader, if they so wish.

Will entertain all trade offers ...except for amps ...

Sorry to ask, but...what's the weight?

Riis

Not sure...I don't have a scale here. It's not too heavy though ... I broke my neck, so I'm very sensitive to "bass weight".

I'll try to find a scale today somewhere and weigh it ...maybe take it down to fedex and see if they'll weigh it...

I know you said the preamp was removed....but is the XLR still functional? Did they wire it in, or just snip the wires?

They snipped the wires, but it still has "tails".

Bartolini makes a really cool preamp that is a "filter" setup, like the Wal's and the Heartfields. Not expensive either. If I keep this bass I'll add the Bart preamp.

Btw..this bass is SO comfortable to play !!!

BTW, I worked for a Fender dealer at the time, it was the Fujigen Gakki plant that made them. Great basses.

Honestly, if somebody doesn't buy it soon I will probably take it off the market. It's a really, really good bass. If I wasn't needing to cash it wouldn't even be for sale in the first place.

It was. The dealer I worked for carried not only them, but Gibson, Hamer, Robin, Martin, Ovation, Ibanez, Trace Elliot...and we were considered a "mom & pop" music store. You can't do that now - to be a dealer like we were and getting that kind of turn around....yeah. Most dealer agreements have clauses to prevent that kind of stuff, unless you're like GC.

For me, it was from 1989 to 1995. Moved up to Washington for a chance to work for a company that shall go nameless...ended up working for the Department of Defense LOL.
